The 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

This week we celebrate the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time.  The Parable in today’s Gospel can bring about a sense of envy or unfairness for many people.  There are two concepts:  working and being paid for the time worked & generosity in treating all as equalWhich would we prefer to receive from God when our time comes?  Take time & reflect…

Today we celebrate Catechetical Sunday.  In the past we have “blessed” all who have donated their time to share the Catholic Faith with others.  This year, we are “blessing” everyone – parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, older brothers and sisters, etc. who can help students of all ages to learn about their Catholic Faith while working online or from materials at home.  Why, you may ask?  The Pandemic has brought a tremendous pressure on parents to care for their children, try to educate them, and still attempt to earn a living.  If we gather in small groups or share the Faith through phone, face-time, seated 6 feet apart in the back-yard or whatever works for you we WILL increase the ability of students to learn their prayers, understand the parts of the Mass through the Mass on TV, YouTube, or Facebook, or discover the Social Teachings of the Catholic Church.  Are you willing to share the faith?  The most amazing thing I discovered when I first was appointed was the depth of the Catholic Faith within both parishes – now is the time to continue nurturing that Faith as we educate & share with the young and young at heart!  Are you willing to share in the greatest gift a parent can give their children – the gift of the Catholic Faith?  Take time…
