Christ the King

This week we celebrate Feast of Christ the King or Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.  It is the final Sunday of our Liturgical Season.  The Readings all reflect the kingship of Jesus which is revealed to us through the humiliation of Jesus on the Cross not through power or majesty.  Think of the people hanging on the crosses on either side of Jesus – what faith was displayed by the one who asked Jesus to “remember me when you come into your kingdom?”  Would we have had that much faith in Jesus if we were hanging there?  Take time to reflect…

This week we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving.  We all need to take time to reflect on what we are grateful for in our lives.  Many of us have had times of sorrow but we have also had many times of joy.  Perhaps we could gather to give thanks as Faith Communities and remember those who have gone before us, we gather to share a meal with, or those who are at a distance by attending the 9:00 Mass on Thanksgiving Day at St. John the Baptist Parish.  Can we make time to give thanks?

Many have taken the tags to purchase WINTER snow boots and for that we are grateful.  There are still 6 tags left at St. Mary – anyone interested?
